Bosnia and Herzegovina
Martin Frljić from Vitez was born on January 3rd, 1994 in Nova Bila, Bosnia and Herzegovina. After finishing high school as an engineering technician in 2012. He then studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Široki Brijeg, department of printmaking, from year 2012 to 2017. He is the winner of the Rector’s Award for the academic year of 2015/2016. Martin was awarded a study visit to the Academy of Fine Arts Brera, in Milan, for best drawing in 2016, by the EUIC BiH organization. He graduated in 2017 as a master printmaker and professor of fine arts. He is the winner of prestigious Indonesian Art and Culture Scholarship in 2018. During a four month education in Indonesia, he studied Indonesian art and culture, while also representing Bosnia and Herzegovina in IACS programme for the first time. During the closing ceremony of the programme, held in the cultural center Taman Ismail Marzuki in Jakarta, guided by the idea of bringing Indonesia and Bosnia and Herzegovina closer through art, he exhibited 17 drawings from the cycle named „Indonesia Experience“, that was created during his stay in the country. One of the artworks is currently hanging at the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Jakarta, as a memento of their artistic cooperation with Indonesia.He had first solo exhibition in which he exhibited more than 50 drawings in National Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo. Exhibition named Indonesia Experience was sponsored by Indonesian Embassy in BiH. Her Excellence the Ambassador Amelia Achmed Yani opened his exhibition. It was the first time that the Indonesian culture was promoted like that in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Also worth noting is that this was the first time in history of National Gallery of BiH that the Indonesian Embassy and National Gallery cooperated. Couple of drawings from Indonesia Experience collection is now exhibited in Indonesian Embassy in Sarajevo. He took part in numerous collective exhibitions and art colonies in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad.
